A Piece Of Shortcake

I had some big juicy strawberries left from an order and decided to give it a go with a new shortcake recipe i've been meaning to bake for ages. Delicious soft cake really goes well with sweet strawberries..it was a wonderful self indulgent treat!

Hi
I just saw your comment. To make the pictures of the cartoons I usually make a picture of the character under a piece of baking paper and outline it with some royal icing than fill then fill the gaps with run outs. However the finished pic is so fragile you have to take great care. Now I found a better solution. I just roll a piece of sugarpaste the size of the cake surface then place the cartoon picture on thop and with a rounded tool such as a tooth pic with the pinted tip removed i press on the outline so that it leaves a mark on the sugarpaste then i outline that with the icing and fill the gaps with the remaining icing. leave to dry for a long time i usually leave them for a week. then you just oell them and place them on the cake. Hope i ve been clear enough. next time i make one i ll take pic and send them to you if you wnat. just e mail me so that i can send the pics by e mail. :) good evening or morning :)
